Ruth H. "Rudy" Brady, a homemaker and traveler, died Friday of complications from Alzheimer's disease at Heartland House, a Grasonville assisted-living facility. She was 84.

Ruth McNeal Herring, the daughter of an architectural engineer and a homemaker, was born in Baltimore and raised on Aigburth Avenue in Towson.

After graduating from Towson High School, she attended the College of Notre Dame of Maryland for two years.

After marrying Robert L. Brady Jr., a career naval officer, in 1945, the couple lived overseas and at Navy bases on the East and West coasts.

For more than 20 years, they had lived in Grasonville.

Mr. Brady died in June.

In addition to traveling, Mrs. Brady enjoyed sailing, golfing, bowling and gardening. She was also an accomplished knitter and liked completing crossword puzzles.

"She also collected knickknacks from her world travels during my dad's naval career," said a son, John L. Brady of Arnold. "They had been to Turkey, Puerto Rico, Key West, La Jolla, Norfolk and many other places."

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Chester.

Also surviving are another son, Patrick H. Brady of Wanchese, N.C.; a daughter, Margaret B. Pascarosa of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Shirley H. Hutton of Chestertown; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by two other sons, Robert L. Brady III and William M. Brady.
