McNabb throws TD in his debut

So far, so good for Donovan McNabb and the Redskins.

McNabb, traded to Washington by the NFC East rival Eagles in the offseason, completed 5 of 8 passes for 58 yards and a touchdown Friday night in a 42-17 win over the Bills in Landover, Md. in the exhibition opener.

On the Redskins' second possession, McNabb hit Anthony Armstrong for a 4-yard touchdown on third down as Armstrong barely stretched the ball over the line.

"It was an exciting time," said McNabb, who played two series. "When you play your first game, obviously, with a new ballclub, it takes you back to the first game you played. Your adrenaline is high and you have to settle down a little bit."

McNabb's backup, Rex Grossman, later threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Fred Davis, and Brandon Banks returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown to put the Redskins ahead 28-3.

Kevin Kolb, McNabb's replacement with the Eagles, was 6 of 11 for 95 yards in his season debut against the Jaguars.
