Ursula D. Foshay dies at age 67

Ursula D. Foshay, who headed Giant Food's construction and maintenance divisions, died Saturday of lung cancer at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del. The former Bowie resident was 67.

Ursula D. Colkin was born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from Fordham University in 1963.

After marrying Thomas Arnold Quinn, who worked in the Maryland State Personnel Department, in 1963, the couple settled in Bowie. He died in 2000.

Mrs. Foshay was a Prince George's County elementary schoolteacher for several years before leaving to raise her family.

In 1975, she returned to work at Giant Food, answering telephones in the company's Landover headquarters.

She eventually rose to head the grocery chain's construction and maintenance divisions, positions she held until retiring in 1995.

Mrs. Foshay moved to Dagsboro, Del., in 2000, and two years later, married Harry Foshay, who survives.

Mrs. Foshay and her husband enjoyed traveling by ship. She also was an avid gardener and liked antiquing.

A Mass of Christian burial was offered Thursday at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, Del.

Also surviving are three sons, Thomas W. Quinn of Basking Ridge, N.J., Brian M. Quinn of Federal Hill and Timothy L. Quinn of Centreville; a brother, Lawrence Colkin of Millerton, N.Y.; a sister, Virginia Colkin of Dagsboro; and five grandchildren.
