LeRoy C. "Roy" Orndorff dies at age 67

LeRoy C. "Roy" Orndorff, a retired automotive service manager who enjoyed cooking, died Wednesday of cancer at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was 67.

Mr. Orndorff was born in Baltimore and raised in Annapolis. After graduating from Annapolis High School in 1961, he enrolled at Lincoln Institute, from which he graduated.

Mr. Orndorff spent his business career as a service manager for automobile dealerships in Annapolis and Washington. He retired in 2005 from Dar Cars in Lanham.

The 43-year Cape St. Claire resident was an avid gardener, fisherman and crabber, and he enjoyed entertaining.

"He loved to barbecue and steam crabs," said his wife of 46 years, the former Joan K. Seim.

Mr. Orndorff also liked taking cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean islands, and spending time at a time-share he and his wife owned in Ocean City.

He was a longtime active member of Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church, where services were held Saturday.

Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey A. Orndorff of Ashburn, Va.; a daughter, Susanne M. Rose of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Mary Lou Hammond of Cape Coral, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
