Frank A. "Frankie" Sayre, a lifelong salesman and freelance bartender, died June 28 of cancer at his West Baltimore home. He was 63.
For the last 20 years until his death, Mr. Sayre had been a salesman with Reliable Churchill L.L.P. in Baltimore, wholesale distributors of wine and distilled spirits.
Mr. Sayre was born and raised in Chicago where he graduated from John Marshall Harlan High School. An accomplished trombone player, he received a music scholarship at Arkansas A & M, which he attended for several years. The school is now part of the University of Arkansas system.
He briefly worked as a court stenographer in Chicago, before becoming a spice salesman for McCormick & Co.
He held sales positions in Indianapolis and Houston before coming to Baltimore in 1990. In addition to working for Reliable Churchill, Mr. Sayre also worked as a freelance bartender at parties and other social events.
Mr. Sayre enjoyed golf and playing cards.
A Mass of Christian burial was offered yesterday at St. Bernardine Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of nine years, the former Melody "Que" Boyd; a stepson, Kevin Cunningham of Baltimore; a stepdaughter, Shawn Carroll of Baltimore; a brother, Bruce Sayre of Chicago; two sisters, Joyce Kaiser of Pittsburgh and Kathleen Curry of Houston; and many nieces and nephews.
