BALTIMORE (AP) — A suburban Baltimore pharmacist has been sentenced to six years in prison for illegally selling tens of thousands of prescription painkiller pills.
Forty-eight-year-old Ketankumar Patel of Eldersburg was also ordered at sentencing on Friday to forfeit $400,000.
Authorities say Patel sold about 34,000 oxycodone pills to a drug dealer, who eventually worked as a DEA informant, between July 2007 and March 2009. They say Patel filled hundreds of phony prescriptions at his Reisterstown pharmacy and gave advice about how to forge prescriptions.
