Robert Ercole of Baltimore read here that February 1979 was the city's wettest February, with 7.16 inches of melted precipitation: "Yet, on all the charts ... for the largest snowfalls in Baltimore, I never see the snowstorms from February 1979. Why?" Look again. The 20-inch storm on Feb. 18-19, 1979 has long been No. 7 among Baltimore's Top 20 snowstorms. The first two big storms this winter moved it to No. 9. But the NWS is reassessing the list with stricter standards. Stay tuned.
