March arrives at midnight. It is the first month of the meteorological spring and brings the first moments of the astronomical spring - starting at 1:33 p.m. March 20. We'll "spring forward" to Eastern Daylight Time early March 14. Average highs for Baltimore rise from 49 degrees to 59 in March. Average lows move above freezing, from 29 degrees to 38. But snow remains a threat. A few might recall the Palm Sunday Storm on March 29-30, 1942, which dropped 22 inches on Baltimore.
