Rosalena "Rosie" Boone, a retired housekeeper who enjoyed entertaining family and friends, died Saturday at the University of Maryland Medical Center of injuries suffered after a pickup truck plowed into a crowd of shoppers Jan. 16 at Lexington Market.
Ms. Boone, who was 62, was found unconscious and not breathing, and was initially taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
Ms. Boone, who was born in Baltimore and raised on Braddish Avenue, graduated in 1966 from Douglass High School.
She had been employed as a housekeeper and then worked at what is now Coppin State University for a decade until retiring with a medical disability in the 1990s.
The longtime West Baltimore Street resident was an accomplished cook.
"She loved preparing big meals for family and friends at holiday time," said a niece, Marsha Koger of Timonium.
"She was a very humble and shy person who had an infectious laugh and a gentle smile," her niece said.
"Rosie, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, loved reading magazines and newspapers, and frequently kept clippings on people she had a particular interest in," Ms. Koger said.
Ms. Boone also enjoyed listening to jazz and rhythm and blues recordings.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Simmons Memorial Baptist Church, 601 Cumberland St., Baltimore.
Surviving are two other nieces, Leslie Green of Towson and Hortense Boone of Baltimore.
