Chocolate & Champagne affair for charity

The Hospice of the Chesapeake Auxiliary will host the Chocolate & Champagne Affair, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel. The affair will features cakes, cookies and ice cream from area restaurants and vendors. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door, with proceeds benefiting Hospice of the Chesapeake. Wet season testing begins

The Department of Health's division of environmental health is preparing to start annual wet season site evaluations and percolation tests. Applications for mound sewage disposal systems must be received by Feb. 1. All other applications must be received and scheduled by April 1. To apply for percolation tests, contact the Permit Application Center, 2664 Riva Road, or call environmental health at 410-222-7193. Tobacco-free kids kits

Feb. 22-28 is Tobacco-Free Kids Week and is part of Smoking Stinks, a Learn to Live program sponsored by the Health Department.

Spanish-language line

A Spanish-speaking operator will answer calls to the Aprenda a Vivir Spanish Language Line of the Anne Arundel County Health Department at 410-222-4479, 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays. Callers can leave messages at other times. Information about community health services and free Spanish-language informational materials are available.
