SIENA MEN DOWN LOYOLA; TOWSON WOMEN TOP UNC-WILMINGTON

Siena's Alex Franklin made two free throws with 3:35 remaining, breaking a tie at 60 and leading the Saints to a 67-61 victory over visiting Loyola on Thursday.

The Saints (16-4, 9-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) held the Greyhounds (9-10, 2-7) to one point, a free throw by Robert Olson, the rest of the way.

Edwin Ubiles' 3-pointer with 21 seconds left gave Siena a 65-61 lead. Franklin added two more free throws with nine seconds left.

New Hampshire 62, UMBC 58: : Chauncey Gilliam (Hammond) hit a 3-pointer with six seconds left to bring the host Retrievers (1-18, 0-6 America East) within two, but Russell Graham made two free throws with two seconds left to secure the win for the Wildcats (7-10, 2-4).

New Hampshire's Alvin Abreu led all scorers with 22 points. Gilliam finished with 16.

St. Francis (N.Y.) 63, Mount St. Mary's 60: : The host Terriers (8-10, 5-2 Northeast Conference) held off a late Mount rally for the win.

The Mount's Kelly Beidler had a chance to tie the score at the end, but his 3-pointer from the left wing was long and St. Francis guard Akeem Bennett was able to pull down the rebound.

Jeremy Goode and Shawn Atupem each scored 14 points for Mount St. Mary's (5-13, 2-5).

Women

Towson 62, UNC-Wilmington 52: : Shanae Baker-Brice scored a game-high 19 points to pace the host Tigers (9-8, 3-3 Colonial Athletic Association) in their win over the Seahawks (6-11, 1-5).

After back-and-forth play in the first half, Towson outscored UNC-Wilmington 14-6 over the first 10 minutes of the second half and led by 19 with three minutes left in the game. Greta Luksyte scored 15 for the Seahawks.

Vermont 79, UMBC 51: : Kendra Seto scored 22 points and Tonya Young added 21 as the visiting Catamounts (15-4, 5-1 America East) handed the Retrievers (8-11, 2-4) their third straight loss.

Chelsea Baker had 10 points for UMBC.

The Catamounts went on a 9-0 run and led 19-5 at the 11:27 mark of the first half. UMBC scored eight of the next 10 points to pull within eight, but Vermont went on another run, 12-3, and took a 35-33 lead at the half.

Mount St. Mary's 61, St. Francis (N.Y.) 33: : Mary Dunn had a double double (17 points, 12 rebounds) to power the visiting Mount (7-10, 3-4 Northeast Conference) past the Terriers (1-17, 0-7).

Cassie Cooke (Winters Mill) added 10 points and four steals for Mount St. Mary's, which held St. Francis to a Division I low of 33 points, fourth fewest in program history.
