Police reports in Baltimore city and county:

Northwestern Baltimore

Robbery try/shooting: A man, 36, was walking in the 5700 block of Winner Ave. about 6 p.m. Monday when he noticed a large number of men standing in a group. As the victim approached the gathering, one of them told him to "Kick it out!" When the victim turned to flee, one of the men pulled out a handgun and shot him in the right shoulder. All the men then fled the scene on foot. Police said the victim was taken by a city Fire Department ambulance to an area hospital for treatment and was expected to survive. There were no arrests.

Baltimore Co. -- White Marsh

Burglary: Someone broke into a house in the 8600 block of Castle Mill Circle between Jan. 11 and Monday and stole a king-size bed valued at $500. The intruder also vandalized the interior.

Baltimore Co. -- Towson

Burglary: An undisclosed amount of cigarettes were stolen early Tuesday by someone who broke into Royal Farms in the 600 block of Southwick Road by shattering the front glass door with a vehicle.

Baltimore Co. -- Cockeysville

Burglary/arrests: Two men and a woman were arrested about 10 a.m. Monday and were charged with attempting to steal scrap metal from property in the 1400 block of Mount Carmel Road a short time earlier. The three were stopped by a witness when they attempted to drive away in a pickup.

Baltimore Co. -- Franklin

Robbery try: A woman, 24, was walking in the first block of Enchanted Hills Road about 6:30 a.m. Monday when a man armed with a knife grabbed her around the neck and tried to rob her. The woman broke free and called police.
