Chocolate & Champagne Affair for charity
The Hospice of the Chesapeake Auxiliary will host the Chocolate & Champagne Affair, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door with proceeds benefiting Hospice of the Chesapeake. Feb. 22-28 is Tobacco-Free Kids Week and is part of Smoking Stinks, a Learn to Live program sponsored by the Health Department.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health offers:
* Adolescent health services, providing confidential, free or low-cost health education, pregnancy testing, birth control, exams, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, counseling, referrals and family planning services. Clinic services are available at North County Health Services (410-222-6625) and Parole Health Center (410-222-7247).
* Family planning services with free pregnancy tests, counseling, low-cost exams, lab tests and low-cost birth-control supplies to women younger than 25. Call 410-222-7144 for an appointment.

* Substance abuse treatment services are available through Community Treatment Services. Call 410-222-0117. Methadone and Suboxone maintenance services are available through the Department of Health's adult addictions clinic at 410-222-0100.
* Parent's kit for talking to your teen about sex and talking to your parent about sex can be ordered on the Web site aahealth.org (search "Talking to Teens") or call 410-222-4468.

* The Medical Assistance for Families/MCHP program offers comprehensive medical coverage to income-eligible families, children and pregnant women through managed-care organizations (MCOs). For an application call 410-222-4792.

* Behavioral health services for children and teens ages 5 to 18 years old and their families. For mental health services and referrals, call 410-222-6785. For substance abuse services, call 410-222-6725 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
* The REACH health care program for uninsured adults offers county residents low-cost doctor visits, checkups, prescription medicines, lab work and tests, radiology services and dental services. Call 410-222-4531 for additional information.

Senior insurance: A senior health insurance program (SHIP) will be offered the first Tuesday of every month at the Arnold Senior Activity Center, 44 Church Road, Arnold. Call 410-222-1922 for appointment.
Joint replacement: Joint School will provide a free educational opportunity for patients considering total joint replacement surgery or learning more about joint replacements. The program will be held at 4 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month beginning Wednesday. Reservations are requested by calling 410-553-8282.

* Baltimore Washington Medical Center will offer free screenings at its Arundel Mills Outreach Center, between Dave and Buster's and mall entrance No. 4 during January:
Tuesday and Feb. 2 and 16, 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Amedisys Home Health will offer blood pressure screenings.
Jan. 28, Feb. 11 and Feb. 25, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., podiatrist Jenny Nguyen will offer foot screenings.
* In-school vision and hearing screenings sponsored by the Anne Arundel County Department of Health will be held at the following schools and programs. NAMI: The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Anne Arundel County will hold a free class from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday discussing how to better understand mental illness, learn to communicate better with loved ones, and how to deal with psychiatric crises, at 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis.
