An Anne Arundel County police officer shot at a car Tuesday as it sped into him, but police said they do not know whether the bullet wounded anyone. Lt. James Fredericks said police were called to the 2000 block of Tea Island Court in Odenton about 4 a.m. for reports of two men going through vehicles. The officer fired at a KIA Sportage before it knocked him down, Fredericks said. Two people fled from the sport utility vehicle when it stopped nearby, and one was captured by other officers. The 33-year-old officer was treated at a hospital and released. The officer, a 9 1/2 -year veteran, was placed on administrative leave and has not been identified. Police seized the SUV, which had a handgun on the front seat, and expect to obtain a search warrant. Police do not know what, if anything, was taken from parked cars.
