Joe Bollinger writes from Glen Burnie: "What was the temperature variance in 2009 for the Baltimore area, and which months were above normal?" It's hard to accept, deep in January's cold, but 2009 ended with an average temperature 2 degrees above the 1971-2000 average at BWI. February, April, May, August and November were so much warmer than average, they overwhelmed the seven months that were cooler. Sixteen of the past 20 years at BWI have been warmer than the average.
