Samuel Cohen of Rosedale asks whether Baltimore ever had a winter with two 18-inch snowstorms: "It just seems like if we have one really big storm, that pretty much ends our snow for the season." I'm told we haven't even had two 12-inch storms in a season. The closest we've come was in 1960-61: BWI reported 14.1 inches Dec. 11-12, then 8.4 inches Jan. 19-20, and 10.7 inches Feb. 3-4. But one big storm doesn't end the season. In 1996, BWI saw 22 inches Jan. 7, and 36 inches more in smaller storms before spring.
