There are four Baltimore City Council members who have said they are interested, or are believed to be, in being president. The following two councilmen are probably the front-runners at this point:
Current position: District 11 council member
Age: 37 years old
Education: Graduated from the University of Maryland College Park, master's degree from University of Baltimore.
Family: Married to Michelle, an assistant Maryland attorney general, three children.
Career: Associate vice president, University of Baltimore; adjunct professor, UB Legal and Ethical Studies graduate program. Former special assistant to U.S. Rep. Elijah E. Cummings. Served briefly as a state delegate.
Bernard 'Jack' Young
Current position: District 12 council member
Age: 55 years old
Education: Attended Community College of Baltimore.
Family: Married to the former Darlene Brown, two daughters.
Career: Employed by the state of Maryland. Previously radiology clerical manager at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Member of the Johns Hopkins Alcoholic and Other Drug Dependency Advisory Board, the Historic East Baltimore Community Action Council and other boards.
