Glennie M. Milford, a retired Johns Hopkins Hospital clerk and longtime active church member, died Thursday of heart failure at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She was 70.

Glennie Mae Greene was born and raised in Jamestown, S.C. She moved to Turners Station in 1958 and attended what is now Bowie State University.

Mrs. Milford worked as a unit clerk at Johns Hopkins Hospital for 34 years until retiring in the late 1990s.

A member of Greater St. John Baptist Church in Turners Station for 51 years, Mrs. Milford had been a member of the Pastor Aides and a missionary minister. She was active in the Flower Circle, the culinary ministry, the youth ministry, vacation Bible school and had been an assistant Sunday school superintendent and teacher.

For more than 30 years, she had been a den mother for Boy Scout Troop 270 and Cub Scout Pack 270.

Mrs. Milford was an avid gardener, cook and clock collector.

Her husband of 41 years, Emanuel Milford Sr., who had retired from Bethlehem Steel, died in 2007.

Services were held Monday at her church.

Surviving are two sons, Emanuel Milford Jr. of Gaithersburg and Douglas Milford of Gahanna, Ohio; five brothers, Casper Greene of Turners Station, Wendell Green of Dover, Del., Latraza Green, Richard Green and Gregely Green, all of Baltimore; three sisters, Janette Holmes of Edgemere, Vera Pitts and LuAnn Dillard, both of Baltimore; and five grandchildren.
