SANDRA ANNE GLAH, 69, a resident of Riverside, CT, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2010 after a four year battle with cancer. Sandy was born on February 14, 1940 the daughter of the late Omar and Sarah Shake. She grew up in Towson, MD. Sandy attended Northwestern University and was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She married Roy A. Glah in January, 1960 and was a loving and dedicated wife for 50 years. Sandy was a beloved mother to her four children (Robert, Leslie, Kristie and Susan) and six grandchildren. Sandy is also survived by her dear friend and sister Sally Anthony. Sandy was a talented, practical, unique individual. She was very family oriented and community-minded. She was the consummate hostess; she opened her home to everyone and enjoyed giving parties for every occasion. She worked as a travel consultant for 25 years and traveled extensively throughout her life. Sandy also enjoyed sports (especially golf and tennis), gardening and cooking. A private family service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Riverside, CT. Memorial gifts may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065 or a cause of the donor's choice in her memory.
