LOYOLA MEN WIN 4TH STRAIGHT

Brett Harvey scored 21 points, and the host Loyola men's basketball extended its winning streak to four games with a 68-66 victory over Rider on Saturday.

Harvey shot 6-for-11 from the field for the Greyhounds (8-5, 1-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).

Harvey scored seven straight points to spark a 14-0 first-half run, giving Loyola a 37-17 lead with 5:34 remaining before halftime. The Greyhounds led 46-29 at the half.

In the second half, the Broncs (8-7, 1-2) put together a comeback run, scoring 15 unanswered points to take a 56-55 lead with 6:58 remaining. But Loyola answered with an 8-0 run and took a 63-56 lead with 4:02 left.

Navy 79, Elon 73: : Chris Harris scored 22 points and the host Midshipmen (6-8) never trailed in the second half.

Jordan Sugars added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Midshipmen, who beat the Phoenix (3-10) despite shooting 38.5 percent from the field (10-for-26) in the second half and 41.7 percent (25-for-60) overall.

Siena 79, Mount St. Mary's 76, OT: : Kelly Beidler had 19 points for the Mount (3-10), which fell in overtime to the host Saints (10-4).

Siena rallied from a seven-point deficit in the final 1:11 of regulation to force overtime.

Nebraska 74, UMES 60: : Ryan Anderson scored 17 points, and the host Cornhuskers (11-3) used a 13-0 run early in the second half to take control.

Hillary Haley scored 18 to lead the Hawks. Tim Burns finished with 10.

Anderson's 3-pointer with 18:50 left started the spurt for Nebraska. His layup two minutes later put the Cornhuskers up 40-29, and Eshaunte Jones' 3 with 16:07 remaining gave Nebraska a 14-point lead. UMES (3-9) got no closer than 11 the rest of the way.

Vermont 73, UMBC 58: : Robbie Jackson led the visiting Retrievers (1-12) with 15 points in their third straight loss. The game was the America East opener for both teams.

Marqus Blakely scored his third straight double double with 17 points and 14 rebounds for the host Catamounts (10-5). Georgia State 70, Towson 61: : Josh Thornton had four 3-pointers and 14 points in a losing effort for the visiting Tigers (3-8, 0-2 Colonial Athletic Conference).

Thornton cut the Panthers' lead to 60-59 with 2:28 remaining, but Georgia State (8-6, 2-0) went on a 6-0 run to seal the victory.

Johns Hopkins 77, Mary Washington 69, OT: : The host Blue Jays (5-3) - led by Pat O'Connell's 19 points - used a 10-0 run in the last two minutes of overtime to beat the Eagles (4-5) in the opening round of the Blue Jay Invitational.

Hopkins faces Baruch, a 73-65 winner over Kean, in today's championship at 3 p.m.

Women

Morgan State 61, Coppin State 50: : Corin Adams had a game-high 25 points to power the visiting Bears (4-8, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) past the Eagles (3-8, 0-1).

Jeanine Manley had 16 points for Coppin State.

Harvard 71, Navy 55: : The Crimson (7-4) broke open a two-point contest with a game-closing 32-18 run to beat the visiting Mids (8-6). K.C. Gordon led Navy with 15 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers.
