Holly Balabanick describes her style as "vintage and classy with a dash of sexy." The 29-year-old Aveda educator likes current fashions that are influenced by previous eras. "I like some of that pouf in my sleeve. My mom collects buttons, so I love buttons that come from the '50s and '60s." The Minnesota native just moved to Fallston after living in Georgia for the past 2 1/2 years, and she says she's loving the shopping choices here (which she was scoping out at Hunt Valley Towne Centre when we "Glimpsed" her).
The look: White wool funnel-neck herringbone Love Stitch coat. Boot-leg jeans. Shearling booties. Chocolate suede clutch with silver buckle. Shell stiletto earrings. Maui Jim knock-off aviator sunglasses. White fleece gloves.
Where it came from: The coat came from a shop in Georgia. The jeans are from Banana Republic. She found her booties at a store in The Mall of America in Minnesota. She bought her handbag at The Limited. Her earrings were purchased at the Blue Door Boutique in Georgia. She found her glasses at a kiosk at Towson Town Center and her gloves at The Gap.
Her shopping philosophy: "I tell my girlfriends, 'You have to dress cute wherever you go. Life's too short not to shop.' ... Anybody can go to Macy's or The Limited or Bloomingdale's and get the one classic piece. But I love little boutiques that carry designers that nobody's really heard of. ... For my shoes, I always go to a Web site, 6pm.com. I love T.J. Maxx and Nordstrom Rack. I love to dig through things."
Her fashion pet peeves: "I know this is going to sound weird, but jeans with too small pockets so someone's butt looks too big. ... I really don't like it when your blacks don't match. I wear a lot of black."
If her closet were on fire: "I would grab this jacket. And there's a pair of Cole Haan shoes I wear pretty much all summer. But, then I would start to layer things. ... I don't care if I'd look like the big [Stay] Puft Marshmallow Man, just so I could rescue as much as possible. .... Maybe I should have a big oversize bag hanging from my closet door just in case."
