Balanced attack leads Loyola men over Bucknell, 55-49

Sophomore forward Anthony Winbush matched his career high with 17 points and the Greyhounds' defense held host Bucknell to 20 percent (5-for-25) shooting in the first half as Loyola got its third straight victory, 55-49. Brett Harvey and Shane Walker scored 14 points each for Loyola (7-5), and Jamal Barney (Southwestern) added 10. Walker grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Mike Muscala came off the bench to lead the Bison (4-9) with 10 points.

UMBC women: : Senior guard Carlee Cassidy scored a season-high 27 points on a career-best seven 3-pointers to lead the Retrievers (5-6) to a 66-58 victory over East Carolina (10-2) on the first day of the Holiday Classic at Fordham.

Loyola women: : Miriam McKenzie scored 16 points, but the Greyhounds fell, 69-58, to Drexel (6-4) in the first game of the Wildcat Holiday Classic at Villanova. The Greyhounds (4-6) couldn't stop Drexel's Gabriela Marginean, who had 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Maryland men: : The Atlantic Coast Conference announced that guard Greivis Vasquez was named its Player of the Week, winning the award for the fifth time in his career. For the week, the senior averaged 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists in victories over Winston-Salem State and Florida Atlantic.


Ferdinand's hat trick earns him MISL Player of Week

Rookie Max Ferdinand was named the Major Indoor Soccer League's Player of the Week for his three-goal performance in the team's 10-8 win over the Rockford Rampage on Sunday. Ferdinand scored two 3-point goals and one 2-pointer to record eight points in the win. The first-place Blast, which travels to Milwaukee on Thursday, improved to 4-1 this season.
