Mary Price, a longtime Baltimore art gallery worker, died Dec. 13 of complications from Alzheimer's disease at Gilchrist Hospice Care. She was 85.

Mary Jones was born in Baltimore and raised on Gittings Avenue in Cedarcroft. She was a 1942 graduate of Friends School and earned a degree in fine arts in 1946 from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.

For more than 30 years, Mrs. Price worked for the Purnell Galleries, hand-coloring prints and manuscripts, family members said.

Mrs. Price, a longtime resident of Armagh Village, retired in 1994.

She remained active with Friends School, attending athletic events and sewing costumes for the school's annual musical productions.

She also produced pastel portraits and made historically accurate costumes for dolls. She made reproduction dolls with period clothing, which were sold in the gift shop of the Maryland Historical Society.

Mrs. Price was also a supporter and fan of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Her husband of 48 years, Thomas C. Price, a paper salesman, died in 1996.

Services were held Monday at St. James Episcopal Church in Monkton.

Surviving are two sons, Tom Price of Pasadena and Chris Price of Dauphin, Pa.; two daughters, Diana Matthews of Baltimore and Elizabeth Price of Fairfax, Va.; and 12 grandchildren.
