Man dies after stabbing in street near Laurel

Anne Arundel County police are investigating the apparent fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man found early Monday on a street near Laurel. Jamal Medina, 22, of an apartment in the 200 block of Red Clay Road, was found on Red Clay Road near Route 198. "It appears to be a homicide," said Justin Mulcahy, police spokesman. Police have no suspect and knew of no motive. A caller to 911 reported seeing a man collapse in the road about 1:45 a.m. Fire Department officials said the victim was suffering from life-threatening injuries and was in cardiac arrest when rescue workers arrived. He was pronounced dead at Laurel Regional Hospital. An autopsy was to be performed.

Police arrest man in connection with arson try

Officers on patrol at 5:40 a.m. Sunday saw a man put a red gasoline container by the Crossroads Tavern in the 7300 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie and light a wick that was on the top of the container, Anne Arundel County police said. The fire was extinguished before it ignited the building, and a man was arrested on arson and related charges, police said. Police identified him as David Bryan Rexrode, 42, of the 500 block of Kent Circle, Glen Burnie.

Man charged after clerk shot at Dunkin' Donuts

Anne Arundel County police arrested a Columbia man Friday evening and charged him in connection with the wounding of a Dunkin' Donuts clerk who was shot through the drive-through window, police said. Police said the 48-year-old clerk at the shop in the 1600 block of Annapolis Road in Odenton was wounded about 2:20 a.m. Dec. 12 after he did not comply with demands for cash from a man who came to the drive-through window with a shotgun. The clerk was wounded and treated at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said. The department's Special Enforcement Team arrested Jared Ashur Williams, 21, of the 5400 block of Harvest Moon Lane, Columbia, and charged him with attempted murder and related charges, according to police. Police said they found a weapon they believe was used in the shooting.
