Maggie Morrison scored a game-high 20 points as Archbishop Spalding's top-ranked girls basketball team beat host No. 11 McDonogh, 61-52, Wednesday.

Morrison had six field goals, including two 3-pointers, and went 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Sherae Swinson added 18 points for the Cavaliers (6-1), making nine field goals.

In a back-and-forth game, each team outscored the other in two quarters. Spalding took an 18-5 lead after the first quarter.

The Eagles (2-2) trailed 32-20 at the half before outscoring the Cavaliers 20-8 in the third. Spalding finished strong in the fourth quarter with a 21-12 scoring edge.

Candice Hendricks scored 14 points and Tiersa Winder 10 for McDonogh.

No. 2 Roland Park 42, Mercy 32: : After trailing 18-14 at the half, the visiting Reds (8-0) rallied in the second half, led by Daisy Alaeze with 15 points, to beat the Magic.

Mercy went 7-for-7 from the free-throw line, and Ava Trageser scored a game-high 17 points. The Reds went 3-0 last week and Alaeze averaged 19.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in those games.

No. 7 River Hill 67, Hammond 53: : Shantrel Oliver had a game-high 35 points to power the host Hawks (4-0) past the Bears (1-3).

River Hill took an 18-11 lead after the first quarter. Hammond cut the lead to 10 in the fourth quarter before River Hill pulled away.

No. 12 Catonsville 53, Hereford 35: : Maya Torrain scored a game-high 18 points and Zoey Whittington added 13 as the visiting Comets (5-0) beat the Bulls (4-1).

Catonsville led 13-2 after the first quarter and never trailed.

No. 15 Howard 55, Long Reach 26: : Alauna Jackson scored a game-high 16 points to power the host Lions (5-0) past the Lightning (0-3).

Howard nearly equaled Long Reach's scoring total at halftime, when it led 25-15.
