Jason Clements, Old Mill, football

Despite being a four-year varsity player and a 1,000-yard rusher this season, Clements had been overshadowed by teammate Josh Furman until Friday night's Class 4A state final. The junior running back took over the workhorse role when Furman suffered a knee injury early in the game and led the No. 1 Patriots to their first state title, 17-16, over Wise. Clements carried the ball 40 times for 164 yards and one touchdown. He gained nearly all the yardage on a 60-yard drive that set up Brad Cummings' game-winning field goal. A three-time coaches' All-Anne Arundel County first-team selection, Clements finished the season with more than 1,300 yards and 17 touchdowns. He is considering Morgan State among other colleges.

Others considered: : Bobby Bowman, Mount St. Joseph, wrestling; Dylon Cormier, Cardinal Gibbons, basketball; Chuky Iweh, Eastern Tech, football
