Clothing drive at center
The Columbia Teen Center Teen Outreach Committee is sponsoring a clothing drive to benefit local families. Donations of clothes for all ages and sizes can be dropped off at the center, 5853 Robert Oliver Place in Columbia, by Monday. Teens will sort the clothes and deliver them to families in January.

Weichert Realtors, 9339 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City, is an official drop-off location for donations to the Maryland Food Bank through Dec. 10. Most-needed items are canned meat, peanut butter, pasta, canned or dried fruits, canned soup and vegetables, sauces/salad dressing, evaporated and powdered milk, infant formula, pudding and custard, oatmeal and breakfast cereals, rice, nuts, seeds, and canned or dried beans.

Tickets are on sale for the 18th season of the Columbia Jewish Congregation's Jewish Film Series at The Meeting House in Oakland Mills scheduled for January-April. Special Olympics Howard County (SOHO) seeks volunteers to participate in sports training and competition with Special Olympic athletes. The organization is looking for basketball partners who are 18 or older and available two days a week from early January through mid-March. Elite basketball skills are not a requirement. Partners will attend a preliminary practice on Dec. 9, an orientation on Dec. 13 and twice a week practices starting in January.
