BALTIMORE FBI NAMES HQ AFTER SLAIN AGENT

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The Baltimore FBI renamed its headquarters Monday in honor of Agent Sam Hicks, a former city police officer who was killed last year during a raid on a suspected drug dealer's home near Pittsburgh.

Hicks, 33, graduated from the Baltimore City Police Academy in 2002. He worked in the Southwestern District until he was assigned to the organized crime division in 2005, where he remained until resigning in 2007 to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

He lived in Gibsonia, Pa., with his wife and young son.

Hicks was fatally shot as he led officers on a drug raid at a home in Indiana Township Nov. 19, 2008.

Christina Korbe, the wife of the drug suspect sought, is jailed awaiting trial on charges she killed Hicks. She has acknowledged shooting Hicks, but says she thought he was an intruder.

FBI spokesman Richard Wolf said the headquarters on Lord Baltimore Drive is now known as the Sam Hicks Building.
