Two men arrested Saturday night after a shootout with police in a west-side neighborhood are suspected in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at a Catonsville convenience store Nov. 17 and the shooting of a man during a carjacking on Ingleside Avenue on Friday night, police said.

Their names were being withheld pending charges.

One suspect, who police believe was the shooter in the Catonsville store holdup, was wounded in the stomach during the shootout with police and was reported in serious condition Sunday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. No officers were shot during the confrontation.

About 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Baltimore County police observed a car occupied by two men suspected in a series of armed incidents and pursued them into the city's Upland neighborhood near Edmondson Avenue while alerting city police.

In a neighborhood near Irvington, the men abandoned the car, and police arrested the driver without incident. The armed passenger fled on foot and fired shots at pursuing city and county police, who returned fire. The chase ended moments later in the 4500 block of Pen Lucy Road when the passenger was shot in the stomach by a police officer and captured.

Police were conducting ballistics tests to determine whether the gun seized after the foot chase was the same one used in Friday night's carjacking and in the holdup at Yours Convenience Store in Catonsville, in which a customer, Brian Michael Meise, 52, was killed and the owner shot in the upper body. The owner, Sudhir Shah, 55, remains in the hospital.

Two city police officers suffered minor injuries during the foot pursuit with the armed man.

An investigation continues to determine whether the man was shot by a city or a county police officer.

In the carjacking Friday night on Ingleside Avenue in the Catonsville area, a motorist was shot in the hand. Details of that incident were not available.
