Where: : 77th Street and Central Park West, New York

When: : Thursday, beginning at 9 a.m., but many spectators arrive earlier.

The parade begins at 77th Street and Central Park West and will turn onto Central Park South, instead of going down Broadway. From there it will travel east to Seventh Avenue, where it will turn south and continue to 42nd Street. It will then head east to Sixth Avenue and turn south, proceeding to 34th Street, where the parade will turn west toward Herald Square, ending at 34th Street and Seventh Avenue.

Also this year there are new balloon characters, including Ronald McDonald, Spider-Man and the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Among the performers is the Towson University Tiger Marching Band.

How much: : Free, no ticket required.

What's nearby: : Anything your heart desires, from restaurants to theaters to shopping to museums.

Information: : Call the parade hotline at 212-494-4495.
