In a game that will long be remembered as one of the greatest in Anne Arundel County history, sixth-ranked Old Mill outlasted top-ranked Arundel in overtime after Marquel Pratt intercepted Billy Cosh on the second possession of overtime to set up the game-winning field goal.
After an Arundel timeout, Brad Cummings made a 29-yard field goal to give the Patriots a 58-55 victory in the Class 4A East regional final.
Josh Furman had 414 yards on 42 carries with six touchdowns for Old Mill.
Arundel receiver Ronnie Harris finished with 20 catches for 293 yards and three touchdowns, and broke the state public school record for receptions in a season with 114.
Old Mill's next opponent was not determined as of Friday night because regional final winners are reseeded for the state semifinals based on the regular-season final point standings.
"That was the best football game I have ever seen in my life," Old Mill coach Damian Ferragamo said. "They are not an 11-0 team for no reason with all of those state records. We have a pretty good football team, too."
Cosh, who already owns or shares 11 public school passing records, completed 32 of 60 passes for 443 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran for two scores.
Arundel (11-1) had defeated Old Mill, 34-27, in the season opener.
At the end of regulation and with the game tied at 48, each team got the ball on the 10-yard line to decide a winner.
Furman scored from 5 yards out on Old Mill's first possession. Joseph Blackwell of Arundel answered with a 10-yard TD run.
After Old Mill (10-2) stopped Arundel, Cummings made the field goal after missing four of five extra points in the game.
"I just told my teammates that I got your backs because I fumbled earlier," Furman said. "I told them, 'I am not coming out of here with a loss.' "
With the game tied at 20, Furman took a handoff on the second play of the second half and ran 86 yards to give Old Mill its first lead. On the next possession, Avery Taylor intercepted Cosh on the Wildcats' 20-yard line and raced to the 3. Two plays later, Jason Clements ran it in from 1 yard out to boost the Old Mill lead to 34-20.
Cosh cut into the margin with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Harris.
Furman then ran 52-yards, followed by a 7-yard run to give the Patriots a 40-27 lead.
After Old Mill fumbled a punt on its 38, Cosh eventually found Harris for a 3-yard touchdown and Arundel trailed by six with 10:37 remaining in the game.
After Furman fumbled on his 33, Cosh found Harris again for a 15-yard touchdown and a 41-40 lead.
A 5-yard run by Blackwell increased the lead to eight with less than four minutes remaining. Furman answered with a 46-yard run and a 2-yard run for a touchdown with 42 seconds left.
