Police reports in Baltimore city and county:

Northwestern Baltimore

Shooting: Police were seeking a gunman who approached a Ford F-150 pickup truck parked outside Sportsmen's Lounge in the 4700 block of Gwynn Oak Ave. about 11 p.m. Wednesday that was occupied by two people and fired several shots into the vehicle from the rear, hitting the driver once in a leg and once in an arm. The victim, 43, was taken by a city Fire Department ambulance to an area hospital and was expected to survive. The passenger escaped injury. District detectives are investigating the shooting and urged anyone with information to call them at 410-396-2466.

Southern Baltimore

Robbery try: A man entered the Royal Farms in the 3300 block of Annapolis Road about 5 p.m. Wednesday and attempted to remove a cash register from the counter. An employee grabbed onto the cash register, preventing the theft, and the man fled the store on foot.

Baltimore Co. -- Parkville

Thefts: A 39-year-old Kingsville man was attempting to leave the Mars supermarket in the 9600 block of Harford Road about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday without paying for vitamins valued at $30 when he was stopped by a security officer. The man, also suspected of stealing items earlier that day at a Super Fresh in the 7700 block of Harford Road, presented identification to the security officer and county police and was allowed to leave. Police said theft charges may be lodged against the man by the two stores.

Baltimore Co. -- Essex

Burglary: A man was in the process of breaking into a house in the 1100 block of Punjab Drive early Wednesday through a sliding glass door when he was confronted by the occupant and fled. No property was stolen and no arrest had been made.

Baltimore Co. -- Towson

Burglary try: Police were seeking three young men who were breaking into a house in the 800 block of Scarlett Drive about 1 p.m. Wednesday through a side when they were observed by a neighbor who called police. The three fled without entering the house.

Baltimore Co. -- Pikesville

Burglary: Someone used a bench to climb through the rear window of a house in the 3300 block of Lee Court on Wednesday and stole $50 in assorted coins and $300 cash.
