A 65-year-old man died after a Sunday afternoon fight at a landmark Catonsville bar, according to Baltimore County police.
The altercation between two men, whose names have not been released, began at Morsberger's Tavern in the 700 block of Frederick Road. Police and emergency medical technicians were called at 1:33 p.m., said Officer George Erhardt.
The injured man was found in the tavern's bathroom and died later at St. Agnes Hospital. Both men walked into the bathroom, and only one came out, police said. No weapons were involved.
"It's the first time it's ever happened," said the bar's owner, Bob Morsberger. The tavern reopened by 4:30 p.m.
Police said an initial investigation found that the men had been arguing over the use of the washroom. The nature of the argument was not disclosed.
The bar, which also sells package goods, has karaoke and acoustic guitar on weeknights and bands on weekends.
The tavern, which has been a Catonsville fixture for more than a century, had been owned by two brothers, Louis and Elmer Morsberger. Louis Morsberger, who died in 2002, served five terms in the Maryland House of Delegates.
