JONES LAUNCHES ONE
Center fielder Adam Jones hit a tremendous two-run home run off Cardinals pitcher Todd Wellemeyer. The ball landed on the second-story roof of the Florida Marlins' clubhouse behind left field and bounced over the building. There was a breeze blowing in that direction, but it was a legitimate moon shot - the kind Mark McGwire used to hit here during batting practice.
Catcher Gregg Zaun was scratched from the starting lineup with tightness in his elbow. Matt Wieters took his place and had a single in three at-bats. Robby Hammock already was scheduled to start Sunday's game against the New York Mets. Zaun's elbow issue is not considered serious, and manager Dave Trembley said he made the lineup change as a precaution.
Japanese pitcher Koji Uehara takes the mound for the second time since he returned from a left hamstring strain. He'll face Mets starter Mike Pelfrey at 1:05 p.m. at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. Uehara has made three Grapefruit League appearances and pitched 7 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits. He gave up a run on three hits and struck out seven against the Washington Nationals his most recent time out. Brian Roberts is expected to return to the lineup after missing several games with an upper-respiratory infection.
