Auditions, arts camp at Slayton House
Slayton House Conservatory for high school students is holding auditions for its 2009 sessions from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m to 4:30 p.m. April 4.
Applicants should prepare a one-minute memorized monologue and 16 bars of a song, and be ready to learn and demonstrate a brief dance combination.
The camp will be held June 29 through July 17 and July 20 through Aug. 7.

Slayton House Camp of the Arts, a musical camp for children in grades one through eight, is accepting registration for its three summer sessions: June 22 to July 10, July 13 to 31 and Aug. 3 to 14.

Central library events
The Central library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, will offer the second and third parts of its series on Lyme disease April 2 and 30.
Under My Skin, a film depicting chronic Lyme disease in teens and youth, will be shown at 7 p.m. April 2. Members of the Howard County Lyme Disease Support Group will be available at 6:30 p.m. for questions.
Master Gardener Donna White will present an Integrated Pest Management approach to managing deer, "Discouraging Deer Dining," at 7 p.m. April 30.
The library will offer a discussion on "Downsizing Alternatives: Reinventing Your Life in Today's Economy" at 7 p.m. April 7. The talk will focus on new ways of living after encountering unexpected changes in life.
Registration is open for an SAT-PSAT prep course being offered from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. March 31 and April 14, 21 and 28 at Atholton High School.
The cost is $225 and includes tuition, materials and a registration fee. A portion of the tuition will benefit the school.
