Richardson family attends viewing
Liam Neeson looked distraught yesterday as he greeted grieving family members and friends who attended a private viewing for his wife, actress Natasha Richardson.
Neeson and sons Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12, attended the viewing at New York's American Irish Historical Society, as well as Richardson's mother, Vanessa Redgrave, and her sister Joely Richardson.
The viewing followed Thursday night's tribute on Broadway, when theaters dimmed their lights for the Tony Award-winning actress, who died from bleeding in the skull caused by the fall she took on a ski slope.
Ratings for Obama
Nielsen is giving high approval ratings to President Barack Obama's appearance Thursday on NBC's Tonight Show. Obama's visit with Jay Leno, the first by a sitting president, scored an 11.2 rating in metered-market households. That's the highest number since January 2005, when Tonight paid tribute to the late Johnny Carson. The last time Tonight logged a higher rating was after the Seinfeld finale in May 1998.
Oprah and Ellen
Oprah Winfrey offered to share the cover of O magazine with Ellen DeGeneres, and DeGeneres has accepted.
Winfrey surprised DeGeneres with a video telephone call on yesterday's episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. DeGeneres, who's been mounting a campaign for the cover during her Ellen show, told Winfrey: "I can't believe you're serious about this. I'm freaking out right now."
Two books from pilot
William Morrow says it plans to publish the first of two books with hero pilot Chesley B. Sullenberger III late this year.
Topics will include his boyhood, his military service and, of course, his "Miracle on the Hudson" experiences.
William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, said yesterday that the subject and timing of the second book is not yet known.
Sullenberger safely ditched his US Airways plane in New York's Hudson River on Jan. 15 after its engines were disabled by geese. All 155 people aboard survived.
