Essay could win Bahamas wedding

Lately, it seems everything is free. Free pancakes at IHOP. Free subs at Quiznos. Free nights at hotels. Free days at Walt Disney World. Free tickets to Universal Studios.

The problem is most of it is stuff you don't really want or need. (When is BGE gonna give me a month's supply of heat for free? In Neverary.) The other problem is you have to spend money to get to the free part. But here's a free offer that could have a happy ending and end up costing you absolutely nothing except a few words.

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism is offering a Bridal Bailout contest, with the winning couple receiving an island wedding of their dreams. To enter, couples need only to share their story of love in an essay and photographs or a video submitted between March 20 and April 24. The contest is also open to married couples who wish to renew their vows.

Here's what you get: round-trip airfare, a three-night hotel stay for a bridal party of 10, a wedding planner, flowers, photographer and wedding cake.

Entries will be posted online at, where people will vote for their favorite. The 20 couples who receive the most votes will move on to the next level, where a panel of judges will choose five winners.

And it's all free.
