Hometown : Baltimore
Members: Rory Brennan, drums; Dave Fullerton, guitar; Dillon Sullivan, vocals; Eric Courtney, bass
Founded: in 2005
Style: experimental rock
Influenced by: Radiohead, Incubus, Primus, Smashing Pumpkins, Mogwai
Notable: It'll only be Sonic Bloom for a few more weeks. Next month, the band plans to change its name to Sonic Color. The band released its full-length debut, Looking Down at the Sky, in January. So why the new name? Sonic Bloom is also the name of a group from California and a music festival, Sullivan said.
Quotable : "The first thing people find with any search engine is Sonic Bloom the music festival," Sullivan said. "That always gets in the way whenever I try to tell people to find us online. It's a very subtle change for most of our fans. I think it's a clever thing, putting something auditory with something visual. I like the change."
Sonic Bloom performs tonight with Verse the Tempest, Eat It Raw and Armed Elephant at the Talking Head Club, 407 E. Saratoga St. Doors open at 8 p.m. $8. Call 410-783-7888 or go to sonarbaltimore.com. The band: myspace.com/sonicbloommusic.
