The Oakland Mills Community Association will hold annual village elections on April 25. The association is seeking candidates to run for seven open seats on the Oakland Mills board and one open seat as the Oakland Mills representative to the Columbia Council. Terms are for one year.
Nominations will be accepted Tuesday through March 13. Nomination petitions and candidate information packets are available at The Other Barn.

The Columbia Jewish Congregation will offer two classes in chanting Torah trope, the melodies in which the text of the Torah is read aloud on the Sabbath and holidays.
Cantor Jan Morrison will teach reading and singing for Shabbat and holidays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. March 1, 8, 15 and 22 and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 29. She will teach Torah trop for High Holy Days from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. April 19 and 26 and May 3, 10 and 17.
The cost is $54 for each series for nonmembers.
Rabbi Ilyse Kramer will present a four-part class, "Voices From Israel," from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. today and March 1, 8 and 15. The class focuses on writings by authors and poets living in Israel and will guide discussion to issues such as identity, homeland and belonging. The cost is $54.
Dance battle : The Columbia Association's Teen Advisory Committee will sponsor Battle of the Dance from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at The Other Barn in the Oakland Mills Village Center. Open to all local teens. Performers compete individually or as a team and are judged by three local dance professionals. Prizes will be awarded. Admission is free. 410-715-5523.
