Cardio classes in Ellicott City

The Ellicott City Senior Center, 9401 Frederick Road, is offering two new classes.

A free Cardio Groove Fitness class will be offered from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. March 4. The low-impact class is designed for ages 50 and older. Tracy Cox (e-mail cox@freedomfitness.info) will lead the class. Reservations are not needed.

A Cardio Groove class will be offered from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, starting March 9. The session runs through April 29.

The cost is $69 for 14 classes. There will be no class April 13 or 15.

Pancake supper

Glen Mar United Methodist Church, 4701 New Cut Road, Ellicott City, will hold a Mardi Gras Pancake Supper and Silent Auction from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Pancakes cost $5; reservations are requested. An auction, crafts and other activities are planned.

Test better : Stressless Tests will offer middle and high school study skills classes for students who do well in class but struggle with tests. Middle school classes meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, starting tomorrow, at Burleigh Manor Middle School. This session of high school classes has already begun. Chess : The Elkridge library, 6540 Washington Blvd., sponsors a chess club for ages 13 and older from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Players of all abilities are welcome, but they must know how to play. Snacks provided. 410-313-5077.
