Taylor Hicks extends run with 'Grease' tour

American Idol winner Taylor Hicks has reupped his contract with the national tour of Grease. He'll now appear on the road with the show through the 2009-2010 season, reports Variety.

Hicks, who plays the cameo role of Teen Angel in the musical, has played in the tour since it went out in December. He also had a stint in the Broadway incarnation, which shuttered in January.

Grease will make stops this spring in San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco, among other cities. It played in Baltimore this month.

Rihanna 'doing well'

Rihanna is telling fans she's strong and doing well in a statement released by her representatives yesterday.

She says she won't comment on "the incident involving Chris Brown" at the request of authorities.

It comes hours after the Web site TMZ released a photo that shows the battered face of a woman it says is Rihanna with a welt above each eyebrow, marks on her cheek and around her lips and general swelling.

Brown was arrested Feb. 8 and booked on suspicion of making felony criminal threats to a woman that authorities have not publicly identified. A person familiar with the situation, who requested anonymity, confirmed that the woman was Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty.

TMZ did not say how it obtained its photo, when it was taken or by whom.

Hours later, the Los Angeles Police Department launched an internal investigation. A police news release said the image "has the appearance" of one taken during a domestic violence investigation, and classified its release as a case of serious misconduct that could result in termination.

Oscar-bound

After weighing the implications of bringing its youngest, poorest Indian actors to the Academy Awards, the makers of Slumdog Millionaire have decided to do so, and expect the film's entire cast to arrive in time for tomorrow night's Oscar ceremony.

Producer Christian Colson, distributor Fox Searchlight and director Danny Boyle had worried that a trip to Los Angeles for the awards ceremony might further complicate the difficult lives of two children cast from the slums of Mumbai, India.

The filmmakers and studio eventually decided that they would invite and pay for the transportation of the film's entire cast, rather than bringing in a select few.

Besides Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, the other young actors set to attend are Freida Pinto, Dev Patel, Madhur Mittal, Ashutosh Lobo Gajiwala, Tanvi Ganesh Lonkar, Tanay Chheda and Ayush Mahesh Khedekar.

Who won?

Project Runway taped its sixth-season finale yesterday, but something was missing: the finalists.

Because of a legal battle, three unknown designers sent their collections down the runway at the tents in Bryant Park on the final day of New York Fashion Week. Since the cast has not been announced, the finalists stayed hidden backstage.

Host Heidi Klum told the audience that she was "a little bit sad" the finalists couldn't have their moment in the spotlight after working so hard to get there.

The new season of Project Runway, which aired for five seasons on Bravo, has been delayed because of a legal battle involving NBC Universal, which owns Bravo; the Weinstein Co.; and the Lifetime Channel.
