No. 19 Purdue cruises past No. 6 Michigan State

JaJuan Johnson scored 17 points to lead No. 19 Purdue over No. 6 Michigan State, 72-54, last night and give the host Boilermakers (20-6, 9-4 Big Ten) their third straight win.

Kalin Lucas scored 14 for the Spartans (20-5, 10-3).

No. 10 Marquette 79, Seton Hall 67: : Wesley Matthews scored 24 to lead the host Golden Eagles (22-4, 11-2 Big East) past the Pirates (14-11, 5-8).

Top 25 women

No. 8 Louisville 89, St. John's 60: : Angel McCoughtry (St. Frances) scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the 51st double double of her career.

The host Cardinals (24-3, 11-2 Big East) clinched one of the top four seeds in next month's conference tournament.

State men

ELIZABETH CITY STATE 65, BOWIE STATE 60:: Andrew Engel scored 17, but the visiting Bulldogs (14-12, 10-8 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) lost to the Vikings (12-6, 12-5).

State women

BOWIE STATE 72, ELIZABETH CITY STATE 63:: Five players reached double figures as the visiting Lady Bulldogs (16-10, 14-4 CIAA) won.
