Morgan men top Florida A&M;, 75-57

Reggie Holmes (St. Frances) scored 19 points to lead host Morgan State to a 75-57 victory over Florida A&M; yesterday.

Kevin Thompson (Walbrook) added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Bears (15-10, 9-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who won their fifth consecutive game and remained in first place in the league.

Morgan State made only 13 of its 26 free throws, but the Rattlers (6-17, 4-17) were 14-for-49 from the field (28.6 percent) in losing their seventh straight game.

Florida A&M; was 24-for-27 from the free-throw line (88.9 percent).

Morgan State, which out-rebounded the Rattlers 42-28, led 36-26 at halftime.

Marquise Kately and Jermaine Bolden each added 12 points for the Bears.

MOUNT ST. MARY'S 72, MONMOUTH 62:: Jeremy Goode scored 21 points on 7-for-10 shooting to lead the Mount (16-10, 11-4 Northeast Conference) past the Hawks (6-21, 4-10).

NORTH CAROLINA A&T; 70, UMES 59:: Nicholas Wilson scored 16 points to lead the Aggies (12-13, 6-5 MEAC) over the Hawks (6-18, 2-9), who have lost six in a row.

ST. MARY'S 84, GALLAUDET 74:: The Seahawks (20-4, 13-2 Capital Athletic Conference) ran their winning streak to seven with a victory over the host Bison (11-13, 2-13).

FROSTBURG STATE 77, HILBERT 54:: Junior Nick Sefcik and sophomore Brian Anderson (Eastern Tech) each scored 14 points, and the Bobcats (14-9, 11-5 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference) took a 48-18 halftime lead in their win over the visiting Hawks (4-19, 3-13).

WASHINGTON COLLEGE 74, MCDANIEL 57:: Andrew Chambers scored 15 points as the Shoremen (11-12, 8-8 Centennial Conference) defeated the Green Terror (17-6, 12-4) for the 16th straight time at home.

MUHLENBERG 60, JOHNS HOPKINS 58:: Junior Ryan Foster made a three-pointer with 19 seconds remaining to lift the visiting Mules (14-9, 10-6 Centennial) over the Blue Jays (12-11, 7-9).

SALISBURY 77, STEVENSON 66:: Five players scored in double figures, led by Ryan Hourihan's 18 points, as the Sea Gulls (10-13, 7-7 CAC) defeated the host Mustangs (6-17, 5-9).

Women

NAVY 60, LAFAYETTE 57:: The Midshipmen (13-12, 6-4 Patriot League) rallied from a nine-point deficit with 10 minutes to play to earn a victory over the host Leopards (8-17, 2-8).

COPPIN STATE 69, BETHUNE-COOKMAN 61:: Whitney Cunningham led all scorers with 23 points and the Lady Eagles (10-12, 8-3 MEAC) shot 50 percent in their win over the visiting Lady Wildcats (9-13, 2-9).

MONMOUTH 57, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 50:: An 11-2 run to end the game pushed the Hawks (13-11, 7-6 NEC) past the visiting Mount (10-14, 5-9).

NORTH CAROLINA A&T; 89, UMES 68:: April McBride's 28 points weren't enough as the Lady Hawks (10-12, 6-5 MEAC) fell to the visiting Aggies (18-5, 11-0), who got a career-high 34 points from Brittanie Taylor-James.

MUHLENBERG 63, JOHNS HOPKINS 54:: The Blue Jays (12-11, 10-6 Centennial) fell behind early and never caught up to the visiting Mules (20-3, 16-0).

MCDANIEL 77, WASHINGTON COLLEGE 68:: The Green Terror (13-10, 11-6 Centennial) closed with a 22-7 run to rally past the host Shorewomen (10-13, 5-11).

SALISBURY 61, STEVENSON 48:: The Sea Gulls (8-15, 8-6 CAC) used a 26-5 run to close out the first half and cruised from there in their win over the host Mustangs (5-18, 3-11).

FROSTBURG STATE 60, HILBERT 35:: Junior Brittany James (Milford Mill) scored 17 points to lead the Bobcats (14-9, 11-5 AMCC) over the Hawks (0-23, 0-16).

ST. MARY'S 64, GALLAUDET 43:: Four players scored in double figures to lead the Seahawks (8-15, 6-9 CAC) over the host Bison (5-18, 0-16).
