Relay for Life holds team meeting

Western Howard County's Relay For Life, the overnight fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, will hold a team meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Glenwood Community Center, 2400 Route 97, Cooksville.

The theme for the meeting is "You Are the Heart of Relay," and information about Relay for Life will be provided. Everyone is welcome.

Friends and relatives of cancer survivors, religious organizations, service clubs, schools and the public are invited to form teams, which raise money during the year for the event. During the event, which will be held June 19-20 at Western Regional Park, team members camp out and try to keep one team member walking or running on the track all night.

PTA's basket bingo

West Friendship Elementary School's PTA will hold its third Longaberger Basket Bingo on Saturday at the Sykesville Fire Hall, 6680 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

Doors open at 6 p.m.; bingo begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.

School's out : The Howard County Conservancy has expanded the number of openings for children ages 5 to 11 in its "School's Out" nature program, offered at its farm in Woodstock on days that public schools are closed. "School's Out" programs for ages 5 to 11 are held on the Conservancy's 232-acre farm. The programs include hikes, environmental projects and crafts, and will be offered tomorrow and April 23.
