The East Columbia 50 Plus Center will offer a new belly dance class from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays. Instructor Camila Karam will teach hip movements, stretches, arm and hand technique, and veil dancing. The cost is $25 a month.
A new yoga class with Karam is being offered from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays. The cost is $24 a month.
A class on Food and Herb Supplements, with nutritionist Rona Martiyan of the Howard County Office on Aging, is planned from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 23. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free, but reservations are requested.
Battle of the Dance
The Columbia Association's Teen Advisory Committee will sponsor Battle of the Dance from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 28 at The Other Barn in the Oakland Mills Village Center.
The competition is open to all local teens. Performers can compete individually or as a team and must bring their own music on a compact disc. No explicit lyrics are permitted. Performers will be given five minutes to perform and will be judged by three local dance professionals. Prizes will be awarded.

Free screenings : The East Columbia 50 Plus Center in the east Columbia branch library will offer free vascular screenings for carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms and peripheral arterial disease to people 50 and older who have hypertension, diabetes, a family history of vascular disease, high cholesterol or who smoke.
