STATE MEN

The Baltimore Sun

No. 3 Maryland (0-0)

Coming up: Vs. Presbyterian, today, 2 p.m., Ponte Vedra High, Jacksonville, Fla.; vs. Air Force, tomorrow, noon, Jacksonville University.

Comment: The Terps' season begins with an appearance at the Wounded Warrior Project's Face Off for a Cause. Presbyterian is playing its first all-Division I schedule, and Air Force went 3-9 last season.

No. 6 UMBC (0-0)

Coming up: At Delaware, tomorrow, 1 p.m.

Comment: The Retrievers have dropped the past three meetings against the Blue Hens and nine of the past 12. A Ryan Smith and M Peet Poillon power a high-octane UMBC offense, but Delaware sophomore G Noah Fossner shined in a scrimmage against Maryland a few weeks ago.

No. 10 Navy (1-0)

Coming up: Vs. No. 15 Ohio State, tomorrow, noon, Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Comment: The Midshipmen took care of VMI in Saturday's season opener, but coach Richie Meade said there's room for improvement. One good sign: 10 of the team's 13 goals came from an attack that graduated star Nick Mirabito.

No. 16 Loyola (0-0)

Coming up: Vs. No. 14 Notre Dame, tomorrow, 1 p.m., McEachern High, Powder Springs, Ga.

Comment: The Greyhounds' attempt to stop a four-game losing streak in season openers looks even more challenging as fifth-year senior A Shane Koppens will sit out the season's first two games. That leaves the offense to junior A Cooper MacDonnell, junior M Collin Finnerty and sophomore A Matt Langan.
