'Senior Week' to focus on safety

In cooperation with the River Hill High School PTSA, HC DrugFree will offer "Senior Week in Ocean City," a program for teens and parents, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in the River Hill High School Media Center. The snow date is March 12.

Participants will hear about selecting a safe place to stay, hotel requirements and Ocean City initiatives designed to ensure a safe, enjoyable Senior Week for teens who go to Ocean City. Presenters are Cpl. Howard Caplan of the Ocean City Police Department; Josh Wasilewski of the Ocean City Beach Patrol; and two parents who have arranged alternative trips for their seniors.

The program will be offered from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Howard High School. The snow date is March 11.

Marriage workshop

Bon Secours Spiritual Center, 1525 Marriottsville Road, Marriottsville, will offer a workshop, "Marriage Makes a Difference," at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The event begins with an optional Mass at 4:30 p.m. Wine and cheese, dinner and the program begin at 6 p.m.

Speakers Lauri and John Prybysz will reflect on what marriage means to couples, to the church and to the world, and a prayer service or commitment to each other will conclude the program.

Cat adoption

The Howard County Cat Club will hold an adoption show from noon to 3 p.m. today at the Highland Groomery in Highland.

The no-kill nonprofit club provides free cat behavior consultations by e-mail, helps people find homes for cats they can no longer keep and shelters a limited number of homeless cats.

Adoptive families will be asked to complete an application, sign a contract and pay an adoption fee of $125 for one cat; $150 for two. All the cats are neutered or spayed and have current vaccinations.
