Catonsville wins, sets milestones

Shamika Williams scored her 1,000th career point and coach Mike Mohler earned his 300th career win as No. 9 Catonsville beat host Patapsco, 58-23, in girls basketball last night.

"Shamika always plays well," Mohler said.

Williams finished with a game-high 21 points and had 13 rebounds and four steals.

Mohler credited his players past and present with the coaching milestone. "I've been around for a while, and I've had good kids for 16 years," he said.

Shelby Polk added 14 points for the Comets (13-2). Precious Kollock led the Patriots with eight points.

No. 1 St. Frances 57, Mercy 38: : Tanira McClurkin led all scorers with 13 points as the visiting Panthers (16-1) built a 15-point halftime lead en route to beating the Magic. Mary McKay had 12 points for Mercy.

No. 5 Arundel 82, Severna Park 38:: Simone Egwu had 21 points and 12 rebounds as the host Wildcats (10-3) defeated the Falcons.

No. 10 St. Paul's 51, Bel Air 30: : The visiting Gators (19-0) remained undefeated, as their defense held the Bobcats (3-9) to 10 field goals.

No. 15 Century 57, North Carroll 55: : Nicole Ruane made a game-winning steal and layup as the host Knights (11-3) beat the Panthers (9-4).


No. 2 St. Frances 68, No. 14 John Carroll 49: : Wayne Sparrow scored 24 points and Terrell Vinson had 23 as the visiting Panthers (19-3) took control early and led throughout. St. Frances took a 17-5 lead after the first quarter.

Isaiah Philmore scored 13 for the Patriots (15-8).

Cardinal Gibbons 59, St. Maria Goretti 57, OT: : The visiting Crusaders (11-10) - led by Dylan Cormier's 24 points - took a two-point lead with six seconds left in overtime and held on to beat the Gaels (6-17).

Gibbons' Pat Dieringer hit a three-pointer with five seconds left to force overtime.

Overlea 73, Loch Raven 65:: Corey Grant scored 12 of his game-high 21 points in the second half as the Falcons (12-4) came from 13 points down to defeat the visiting Raiders (3-13).

Faquan Palin added 18 points and seven rebounds for Overlea.

Aberdeen 78, C. Milton Wright 55:: Devon Sadler led all scorers with 37 points as the Eagles (10-2) defeated the host Mustangs (7-5).
