Man fatally shot by officer is identified by police
The man who was fatally shot by a city policeman during a foot chase last week in the Waverly neighborhood has been identified as Larry Reed, 22, of Baltimore. Agent Donny Moses, a police spokesman, said that Reed lived in the 2600 block of E. Madison St. and was on probation. Police said that Reed, who died Thursday at Johns Hopkins Hospital, was shot in the 2700 block of Mathews St. when he was about to point an SKS Chinese semiautomatic rifle at the officer. Reed fled after being approached by officers assigned to the Northern District's gang squad, police said. The officer, who was not hurt and whose name was not released, was placed on administrative leave. The shooting remains under investigation.
