Dr. Marc Applestein, a urologist on staff at Howard County General Hospital, has been named president of the professional staff.
Dr. Jonathan S. Fish, an internist, was named vice president, and Dr. Francis S. Chuidian, a specialist in pulmonary disease and critical care, was named secretary/treasurer.
Applestein joined the hospital's professional staff in 1988. He graduated cum laude from Duke University with a bachelor of science, and from the University of Maryland with a doctorate in medicine. He completed a surgical internship and residency at University of Maryland Hospital as well as a residency in urology. He is certified by the American Board of Urology. In 1999, Applestein received a master's degree in business from the Johns Hopkins University. He is with Central Maryland Urology Associates, P.A.
Fish has been a member of the hospital's professional staff since 1997. He is an internist with Charter Internal Medicine in Columbia. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Baltimore VA Medical Center. He is board-certified in internal medicine.
Chuidian joined the staff in 1996. After graduating cum laude with a bachelor of science degree from the University of the Philippines, Manila, He went on to earn his medical degree from the same institution. Chuidian completed his internship at Philippine General Hospital in Manila, his residency at State University of New York in Brooklyn, and a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He is with Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Associates, P.A.
